Barcelona have seen a bid for Ousmane Dembele rejected by Borussia Dortmund, who claim the offer “does not match the extraordinary footballing and otherwise status of the player.”

The news follows on from earlier reports today that Dembele had skipped training and was close to finalising a transfer to Camp Nou.

However, that now looks a little premature with Dortmund having release a statement to the German stock exchange, explaining recent events.

“There has been a discussion with the Catalonian Football Club FC Barcelona in regards to a possible transfer of Ousmane Dembélé to FC Barcelona,” read the statement.

“In these talks Barcelona have presented an offer [for the player] that does not match the extraordinary footballing and otherwise status of the player and also not the current market situation. BVB have turned this offer down.

“And as there is currently no other offer from Barcelona a transfer for the player to Barcelona should not be expected and is at this moment in time unlikely.”

The news is yet another blow to Barca who reportedly saw a bid for Philippe Coutinho rejected by Liverpool yesterday.

The Blaugrana must now decide whether to return with improved bids, Dortmund are believed to want €150m for Dembele, or look elsewhere.
