Shortly after emailing in his request for a transfer out of Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho’s demands have officially been met with a resounding no.

The timeline of events has moved quickly. First, FSG put out a statement on their official website outlining their position on Coutinho.

“We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho,” read a statement.

The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”

Shortly after that occurred, Coutinho turned in his official transfer request via email.

Then, less than an hour later, Liverpool officially rejected the request according to Paul Joyce of The Times and multiple other outlets.

What happens next will be fascinating and Coutinho may have to make things ugly should he really wish for a move to Barcelona.
