They were coming, but now it seems they may not be

Just hours after Pep Segura lifted the mood of Barcelona fans by claiming the club were “close” to signing Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Demble, his words have been quickly shot down by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

Over in Germany, Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watke says “nothing has advanced, not even by a millimetre” with regards Dembele, according to Kicker.

Meanwhile, on Merseyside, Klopp has told a press conference that absolutely nothing has changed on the Coutinho front.

“Nothing to say from my side. We have already said what we have to say. Nothing new,” he told reporters in response to questions about Segura’s words.

“I have nothing to say about his attitude. He has a back injury, the medical department have no complaints.”

And so who to believe? Segura, Watzke or Klopp? It’s difficult to know at this point, but it seems talk of the signings being close, may well be premature for now.
