Sky Sports is reporting that Neymar’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain will total an amount near 500 million euros. That crazy number comes from his rumored wages of €30 million a year, various bonuses, and the buyout clause of €222m. Neymar will sign a five-year deal with PSG.
Regarding Neymar’s mindset in moving to PSG, the source told Sky that the move was driven by a desire to be the leader of a club and escape the shadow of Lionel Messi.
"People will say this has been driven by money, but he wants to become the leader at the club. He wants to be independent, and wants to win the Ballon d'Or. He believes he can do that in Paris."
Neymar’s move to PSG hasn’t been a secret, but Barcelona publicly acknowledged the situation with a statement earlier today. Which included the fact that PSG have to pay the entirety of the buyout clause.
But paying the buyout clause isn’t the end for PSG. There’s a lot more money to spend.
