Barcelona scout Keita & Goretzka

Today’s rumors start in Germany with Mundo Deportivo reporting that Robert Fernandez and Urbano Ortega watched Leon Goretzka and Naby Keita in action on Saturday.

The two players faced off as Schalke beat RB Leipzig 2-0 on Saturday with Barca now anxiously considering alternatives to Philippe Coutinho.

Keita has been chased, unsuccessfully, by Liverpool for most of the summer with the German side insisting he will not be sold - good luck with that one then Barca.

Goretzka, meanwhile, was linked with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this summer but is now into the final year of his current contract.

Gomes to Juventus on loan?

Meanwhile, over in Italy those Andre Gomes to Juventus rumors are back with Tuttosport claiming the Italian champions are considering a loan move for the midfielder.

The Portugal international is concerned for his place following the arrival of Paulinho and with rumors of a move for Jean Michael Seri continuing to swirl.

Apparently there is contact between Gomes and Juve with a view to a temporary deal, with the option to make it permanent next summer.

Messi to sign new deal in September

The fact that Lionel Messi has not signed the contract extension that was apparently agreed way back in July has not gone unnoticed, and is indeed provoking anxiety in some quarters.

Marca report that he will put pen-to-paper, just not yet. The Argentine is keen to see what happens for the rest of the transfer market, and believes the club needs to strengthen.

However, he is not believed to be considering an exit, and will likely finally sign on after he returns from the international break in September. Phew.
