When too many reliable journalists around Europe say the same thing about a transfer, you can believe it: Ousmane Dembélé will be a Barcelona player soon.
There are reports in Germany, Spain and France confirming that an agreement has been made between Barça and Borussia Dortmund, and given the player went on strike to force the move, he clearly wants to join the Blaugrana as well, so the deal is expected to be completed over the next few days.
Barça will pay a fee of 120 million euros, with another 30 million to be added for the duration of Dembélé’s five-year contract based on performance. Dembélé will become Barça’s record signing, and will be the second most expensive transfer in history after Neymar.
Dembélé was one of the priorities for the Barcelona board once Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain. Philippe Coutinho is still very much a target, but Liverpool won’t sell. It seem like Ousmane is the only Neymar replacement signed this summer, but he’s enough.
Dembélé is still only 20 years old and we shouldn’t expect greatness from him right away, but his performances for Dortmund last season on a similar style to Barça show that he clearly has the potential to become a superstar as a Blaugrana.
This deal will become official as soon as Dembélé signs his contract, and it won’t take long for that to happen.
