The defender will spend at least next season in Ligue 1

Barcelona have confirmed they have agreed a deal for Marlon Santos to join Ligue 1 side Nice on a two-year loan deal.

The defender will now head to France, although Barcelona have the option to recall him after 12 months.

The Blaugrana only signed Marlon permanently back in June after a loan spell and he looked to have a big future at the club after featuring for the first team at the end of last season.

However, he clearly does not feature in Ernesto Valverde’s plans for next season and will hopefully play regularly at Nice and develop his obvious potential.

Marlon’s move also suggests that Thomas Vermaelen will be the club’s fourth choice centre-back for the coming season.

It’s perhaps not the most obvious departure this summer, but hopefully Marlon can gain regular playing time and come back next summer and fight for a first-team spot

All the best for the season Marlon!
