After La Liga rejected the €222 million deposit from PSG to activate Neymar’s release clause, the Brazilian has taken matters into his own hands.

Here’s an official statement from the Club:

On Thursday afternoon Neymar Jr's legal representatives visited in person the Club's offices and made the payment of 222 million euros in the player's name with regards to the unilateral termination of the contract that united both parties.

As such, the Club will pass on to UEFA the details of the above operation so that they can determine the disciplinary responsibilities that may arise from this case.

Neymar’s lawyers arrived at the club’s headquarters and presented a €222 million check to activate the release clause and terminate the player’s contract. You should understand this exactly as it’s written: YES, Neymar is effectively paying his own release clause, and he is no longer a Barcelona player. How Neymar got the money no one knows, but we can certainly guess who gave it to him.

Neymar will now travel to Paris for medicals and contract signing, and he will be officially unveiled as a Paris Saint-Germain player on Friday.

The soap opera is now over: Neymar is no longer a Blaugrana. Goodbye.
