Coutinho still hoping to seal Barcelona move

There’s only one place to start today and that’s with Philippe Coutinho, with the latest from Sport claiming the Brazilian remains hopeful of swapping Anfield for Camp Nou.

The Brazilian is apparently in “good spirits” after receiving “promising” news from his representatives back in England.

Any deal may well depend on whether Liverpool can manage to sign Thomas Lemar, with the report claiming negotiations between the two clubs are “advanced”.

Everton make move for Vermaelen

Staying with matters in Merseyside, the Liverpool Echo report that Everton have made a late bid for Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen.

The Toffees have proposed a season-long loan, potentially with a view to buying the centre-back, but are yet to hear back from the Blaugrana.

With Marlon Santos having already departed for Nice this week, it remains to be seen if Barcelona are willing to sanction the exit of another defender.

Napoli to offer €30m for Denis Suarez

Yesterday we brought you rumors of Denis rejecting a host of offers, but that does not appear to have put off Napoli who will return with a €30 million bid.

According to Mundo Deportivo the Serie A side are refusing to take no for an answer and will test Barca’s resolve with a big bid.

However, it looks doomed to fail with Ernesto Valverde wanting to keep the player, and Denis keen to prove himself at Camp Nou.

Douglas closing in on Benfica move

And finally, we come to Douglas who is, very slowly it seems, closing in on a departure from Barcelona.

The club have tweeted this morning that he has been allowed to skip training to finalise his future and it looks to be with Benfica.

According to Marca, he has turned down Turkish side Bursaspor and will now head to Portugal instead.
