Guillem Balague is reporting that West Ham and Tottenham target André Gomes will be staying at Barcelona. Any deal for Gomes was initially thought to be only possible on a permanent basis, but that changed in the last 24 hours as well.

Sport reports that Barcelona were only interested in loaning Gomes out, and that Tottenham were initially opposed to the idea. However, Spurs came around to the idea of the loan option as feasible and worthwhile.

But apparently Barcelona also changed their minds, and now wish to keep Gomes at the club. Which begs the question of why?

It seems quite obvious that he isn’t in Barcelona’s plans, and unless something drastic changes, it doesn’t seem as though he will be getting much consistent playing time this season.

The best move seemed to be to loan him out, and see what he does playing on a more consistent basis, but, reportedly that won’t be happening and he’ll now stay at Barcelona.
