Jose Mourinho’s United are not the only club in the English Premier League that are interested in Sergi. Chelsea and Manchester City have also reportedly expressed interest in Sergi, and both could use a flexible player of his talent to add to their rotation.
Roberto played predominantly at right-back last season, filling a gap that Barcelona had, and did so with a fair bit of flair and creativity, given his midfield roots.
However, the addition of right-back Nelson Semedo this summer means that Roberto will be needed less in defence and will transition back to his more natural midfield slot.
Given that Roberto came up through La Masia, his heart is likely set on staying at Barcelona and this season may be his best chance to do so yet, under new coach Ernesto Valverde.
Despite only making 152 senior appearances in all competitions so far in his career, 47 of them came last year, including the highlight of the season in scoring that goal against PSG.
