Galatasaray have confirmed they in talks with Barcelona over the transfer of 30-year-old midfielder Arda Turan. Despite Turan’s reported wish to remain at Barcelona and become an integral part of the team, rumors of his exit remain prominent.

For Galatasaray fans Turan is considered a legend. Coming up through the ranks of the youth system he was a key player during his time at the club, including becoming captain of the squad in 2009-10.

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has made it quite clear that he is very interested in bringing Turan back to the club he was at from 2004-11.

“Arda is a Galatasaray fan. He loves the club and he will serve this club again. The only option he has to play in Turkey is here and we want Arda to retire at Galatasaray. We are working on a deal to arrange his transfer.”

The Turkish international has had a tumultuous period as a player at Barcelona, as he has been unable to cement a regular role in the squad due to injuries and a lack of opportunity under Luis Enrique.

Should Ernesto Valverde not see Turan in his future plans, he could be off before the transfer window closes.
