Barcelona have reportedly begun to take an interest in one of Europe’s youngest and brightest stars, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo.

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has been fancied to be one of the best up and coming strikers in Europe, and we can add Barcelona to the growing list of teams that are interested in his services.

Werner has previously spoken about the possibilities of leaving Leipzig, and name-checked Barcelona, along with just about every other top team in Spain and England.

"Until now, everything has gone well with Leipzig, I don't think about what could happen in one, two or three years, but of course I want to play for a big club at some point. In Spain there are a maximum of three clubs with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. In England there is a bit more, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City. Bayern is also a big club, but for me it is not a topic that I am concerned with."

Unsurprisingly, therefore, most teams in Europe have been linked to Werner thus far, and it won’t slow down until he ends up moving from Leipzig onto a larger club.

Barcelona could be a good place for Werner to continue his development into a star player. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything solid materializes in the coming months.
