The transfer window may have closed but Barcelona are already planning for next summer, apparently, and have made contact with Marseille over Maxime Lopez.

The highly-rated midfielder is still only 19 but has already attracted attention after impressing for the Ligue 1 side, after a superb debut campaign last season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca watched Lopez closely last season and very much liked what they saw from the midfielder.

Barca have apparently already registered their interest with the club, and spoken to the player’s representatives, where they were told he would love to play for the Blaugrana.

The report suggests any move will not happen until next summer, particularly as Lopez only signed a contract extension back in February, that runs until 2021.

Lopez certainly looks a real prospect, he’s been likened to both Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the past, and it will be interesting to see how he develops this season.
