Frenkie de Jong has been talking about Barcelona yet again, but this time he reckons he’s become a bit annoyed by all the speculation and has distanced himself from a move to the Camp Nou.

The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou over the summer and seemed to enjoy the speculation.

He said he’d like to play with Lionel Messi and also claimed “maybe, someday I’ll play for Barca.”

Ajax have made it pretty clear they have no intention of selling him this season, and now De Jong is talking about remaining with the Eredivisie club for a while.

“In the beginning it was fun and I felt very flattered by the stories around Barcelona, but after a while the questions about it got annoying,” he said.

“For the time being, I just stay with Ajax, at least another year and maybe two or three more years. I’m really enjoying myself here.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s attention appears to have turned from De Jong to his Ajax team-mate Matthijs de Ligt.

Recent speculation has claimed that Barcelona are now more focused on the centre-back given their defensive problems this season.
