Real Madrid want De Jong to replace Modric

Today’s rumors start with the familiar face of Frenkie de Jong, who has reportedly become a target for Real Madrid, according to Sport.

Appparently Los Blancos are keen to do business for the midfielder in January, and they view him as the perfect long-term replacement for Luka Modric.

Real Madrid are well aware that Barcelona and Manchester City are keen on De Jong, so they will try their best to beat both clubs to the midfielder by landing him this winter.

Denis Suarez happy at Barcelona....for now

Over to our very own Denis Suarez now, and ESPN reckon that he has no intention of going anywhere, at the moment.

A report in AS over the weekend had suggested he fancied a move to the Premier League and specifically favoured Arsenal.

However, apparently that’s not the case so says a “source close to the player.” Denis is determined to stay for the rest of the season and try to force his way into the reckoning.

Barcelona not worried about interest in Riqui Puig

Over at Marca they are talking about Barcelona starlet Riqui Puig, particularly after Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s visit to Barcelona B on Saturday set tongues wagging.

The Sun have mentioned Riqui Puig may have been a target, but Barcelona are not worried as he’s contracted until 2021 and has a release clause of €100 million.

Barcelona may sign a centre-back in January

AS have been thinking about Barcelona’s leaky defence and reckon they might sign another centre-back in January.

Apparently Barcelona remain concerned about Samuel Umtiti’s knee injury and know they can’t rely on injury-prone Thomas Vermaelen as back-up.

Therefore they may decide to bring in another defender and want someone with bags of experience.

Vermaelen set for Premier League return

Talking of Vermaelen, he could be on his way back to the Premier League next summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Belgian will leave when his contract expires, Southampton and Watford have previously shown an interest.

Barcelona monitoring Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic

And finally today we end with news from Germany that Barcelona are keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic.

Bild report that Barca have been watching the 20-year-old in action this season. If so they might be impressed, he has nine goals and two assists in nine league outings.

Jovic also has three goals in the Europa League this season and says: “I have to keep going the same way as always. I hope I’ve got a brilliant career ahead of me.”
