Barcelona’s hopes of landing Antoine Griezmann have suffered a little blow with reports that France boss Didier Deschamps has advised his striker against the move.

According to RMC, Griezmann sought the advice of his national team boss over whether to leave Atletico Madrid or not this summer.

Apparently Deschamps told him to remain at Diego Simeone’s side where he will continue to be top dog, rather than head to the Camp Nou and live life in Lionel Messi’s shadow.

Whether it’s enough to convince Griezmann or not remains to be seen, apparently he still hasn’t decided on his future and is yet to make up his mind.

It’s difficult to know what to make of the whole Griezmann saga at the moment. The deal looked practically wrapped up not so long ago, but Atletico’s Europa League triumph and the celebrations that ensued seem to have affected Griezmann.

Nothing appears to have changed from Barcelona’s perspective, and the club are still expected to activate his release clause on July 1st.

There must be concerns about Griezmann though, particularly after last summer when he looked destined to be heading for Manchester United before opting to remain at Atletico.

Is Griezmann staying or going? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
