Antoine Griezmann says he’s staying at Atletico Madrid

Antoine Griezmann has finally made up his mind about his future and has decided he’s staying at Atletico Madrid.

The French forward’s decision was confirmed in a video broadcast on Spanish television as the long-running saga over his future was finally brought to an end.

The video sounded pretty self-indulgent with Griezmann umming and ahing between the two and revealing he’d earn more at Atletico but have more chance of winning things with Barca.

His wife also tells him: “Here if you win something, you are the story, at Barca you will be just one more guy.”

As for Griezmann he reveals how hurt he was when he was whistled by Atleti fans in the last home game of the season after he’d help win the Europa League (might need to get used to that Antoine).

It went on and on and on, there were lots of pensive looks, some horses, a trip to visit his family in France, and 30 (THIRTY!) minutes later he finally came out with it “I want to stay.”

Barcelona had reportedly been keen to sign him on July 1st when his release clause drops to €100m but will now have to look elsewhere.

It’s a blow to their transfer plans but given the way Griezmann has strung this whole thing out and his crazy video you can’t help but think it’s probably for the best.

It’s difficult to know what Atletico Madrid fans make of it all though.

Let’s just be grateful it’s all over. Time to move on.

Who should Barcelona move for now Griezmann is out of the question? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
