Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has given an update on the future of Frenkie de Jong amid speculation Barcelona want to sign the midfielder this summer.

Rumors reckon that Barcelona have made the 21-year-old one of their top summer targets but Ten Hag says he wants to stay with Ajax.

“For me it is realistic that, apart from Justin Kluivert and Hakim Ziyech, no one is leaving,” he said.

“The speculation is always in full swing in a transfer period, but both Matthijs and Frenkie have indicated that they would like to stay with Ajax.

“The aim is to keep the core together. In addition, we are still focusing on strengthening in every line. Except for the position under the bar. With the contract extension of Kostas Lamprou, that position is sufficiently occupied.”

Ajax obviously wanted to keep hold of their talented youngsters and it remains to be seen how hard Barcelona are willing to push for De Jong.
