Barcelona and Ajax are reportedly getting a bit closer to a deal for Frenkie de Jong. The move would be a nice addition for Barcelona’s midfield ranks, but the price has been the one thing that seems to be keeping the teams apart for the time being.
The Dutch club apparently want €50m for the midfielder while Barcelona have been trying to grab the player for a bit less. The good news is that unlike Barcelona’s high price pursuits of last summer, a deal that quibbles over a few million is vastly different then 10’s of millions of dollars.
It remains to be seen what the deal would be for should Barcelona and Ajax actually come to an agreement, but should talks effectively restart soon the deal could be done in time for the club’s preseason.
