Barcelona have confirmed that Samuel Umtiti’s release clause has risen from €60 million to €500 million after the defender put pen to paper on his new contract on Monday.
Umtiti has signed on for another five years at the Camp Nou, and if any club wants to try and sign him they will now have to dig extremely deep to activate his release clause.

Umtiti’s future had been the subject of speculation last season and his relatively low release clause had prompted anxiety he could have been snapped up on the cheap.
However, it appears that Barcelona have learnt their lesson when it comes to release clauses and have ensured any admirers will have been put off trying to sign Umtiti.
