Arthur says he hopes he can get close to the level of Andres Iniesta and Xavi during his time at Barcelona after being unveiled by the club on Thursday.
The midfielder completed his move from Gremio and even took part in pre-season training with Ernesto Valverde’s side fresh from arriving from Brazil.
There are high hopes that Arthur can follow in the footsteps of Xavi and Iniesta, and he spoke about the expectations he will face at the Camp Nou.
“They have always been two people I’ve looked up to, they’re an example to everyone, and I’ll do everything possible to get close to their level of performances.
“For me, Barcelona is a huge task but I’m sure they are going to help me develop a lot as a footballer.
“For me, it doesn’t put me under any pressure. The opposite even, it’s an honour and a privilege. I’ve seen lots of Barcelona matches since I was very young and I know the style of football they play at this club.
“For that reasons I’m happy to wear this Barcelona shirt just as some of my fellow compatriots have done before and had great success here.”
