Clement Lenglet has explained why he chose to move to Barcelona after completing a switch to the Camp Nou on Friday.

The defender has made the move after Barcelona activated his €35.9 million release clause and will add further strength to Ernesto Valverde’s defence.

“I chose Barcelona because, for me, they’re the biggest club [in the world] and they play in Spain, which is the best league in the world,” he said.

“I want to win trophies and I think I am at the best possible club to do that.

”Of course, I also want to play, because a player that doesn’t play isn’t always happy. I am here to learn, to play minutes and to win titles.”

Lenglet also spoke about how he was keen to play as much as possible but that he’s “ambitious but also respectful’ as he is aware of the quality Barca already possess in defence.
