In a very bizarre turn of events in what has already been a very bizarre transfer window around Planet Earth, Barcelona have officially signed Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux after hijacking a deal with AS Roma and bringing the 21-year-old to Camp Nou.
A very important piece of information when a new signing arrives at a new club is his number. While Barça haven’t quite confirmed it yet, Catalan Radio has the scoop and Malcom’s choice is not really a shocking one.

The Brazilian has chosen the number 7 shirt, which is a classic number for Brazilian wingers and the shirt Malcom played with for Bordeaux last season. The #7 Barcelona kit was being saved for Antoine Griezmann, but we all know that didn’t work, so now Malcom gets it.
We don’t know if he can ever be Griezmann, but if Malcom does better than Arda Turan, that’s already a big upgrade for our number 7, which in recent times was used by club legends like David Villa and Pedro.
