Today’s rumors are all about midfielders and we start in France where the news is that Barcelona have been in touch with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
France Football claim that new sporting director Eric Abidal has been chatting with Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique Rabiot.
Barcelona are interested in Rabiot although he’s not seen as a priority right now. He’s also attracted interest from Tottenham, Napoli and Juventus as he has just a year left on his current deal.
Andres Gomes is also attracting a few headlines today with contrasting reports over his future depending on whether you’re in England or Spain.
The Independent report that new Arsenal manager Unai Emery is a big fan of the midfielder and is willing to spend £30m on the midfielder to bring him to the Emirates.
All of which sounds great but there is one problem. Arsenal have a pretty limited transfer budget this summer and have already spent a chunk on Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos. Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira is supposed to be the next to join.
And so over to Mundo Deportivo who reckon that Barcelon have already turned down four offers for Gomes.
The report claims interest from Tottenham, Wolves, Juventus and Lazio but although bids have been made Barcelona have not been happy with any of them.
It’s pretty obvious that Gomes and Barcelona are happy to part ways this summer. But Barcelona clearly don’t want to let him go on the cheap, and clubs will hardly be inclined to spend big on a player who has failed to live up to expectations at the Camp Nou.
