Paulinho’s brief time at Barcelona is over after Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande confirmed he was heading back to China.
The Brazilian was a controversial signing for Barca but leaves the Camp Nou after helping Ernesto Valverde’s side win the Double.
He joins Guangzhou on a one-year loan deal but the club have a mandatory option to buy.
Here’s what he’s said about the move.
“The level of the Super League has improved year by year and the development prospects are very good,” he said.
“After training in Evergrande and Barcelona, and following the Brazilian national team in the World Cup, I got a good experience.
“I chose to return to the Super League this time, hoping to bring more championships to Guangzhou and Guangzhou fans. I also hope to give The Super League more excitement!”
