Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Ivan Rakitic appears to be hotting up with the latest report claiming they are willing to spend €90 million on the Croatia international.

Sport reckon that the French champions have contacted Barcelona to begin negotiations for the 30-year-old midfielder.

PSG aren’t ready to meet Rakitic’s buyout clause of €120m it seems, but they do want to talk to the player to see if he is interested in a move to Parc des Princes.

Rakitic’s most recent social media activity has been interpreted by many as a commitment to his loyalty to Barcelona amid the current speculation over his future.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Sport reckon that Barcelona are not planning on offering Rakitic an improved deal, mainly because they simply can’t afford to increase their wage bill any further.

The report also states that PSG are willing to simply throw cash at Rakitic in their efforts to lure him away from the Camp Nou. Appparently they are willing to double his wages if he agrees to make the move.
