Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu sends strange message to Ivan Rakitic

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke out this week about the current contract dilemma with Ivan Rakitic.

Unfortunately for Rakitic and his fans the news probably wasn’t what they expected nor wanted to hear from the man making the decisions at Barcelona.

“This season we will not be able to make the gesture that Rakitic is asking of us,” he said. “Next season we can look at it in relation to new revenue.”

Rakitic was approached by Paris Saint-Germain over the summer and instead decided to sit and stay with Barcelona.

The loyalty was thought by Rakitic to have been worthy of a new contract with higher pay and longer stay at the club. Barcelona seem to have other ideas, at least for now.
