Real Betis president Angel Haro has explained why a summer move for Barcelona’s Rafinha fell through.

The Brazilian seemed set to leave the Camp Nou during the transfer window, but a move failed to happen and he will now stay with Barcelona.

Real Betis moved for PSG’s Giovani Lo Celso instead, and Haro has given his view on the summer’s events.

He was our first alternative to Lo Celso. PSG was asking for a forced option to buy at a price we couldn’t afford, so we focused on Rafinha.

“We had agreed to all the terms with Barcelona, but the player didn’t want to commit to us long term. So we tried again for Lo Celso and you all know how that went.”

Rafinha enjoyed a bright pre-season with Barcelona, but he’s yet to make a first team appearance in the club’s first three games.
