Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been talking about Jordi Alba and says he wants the left-back to stay at the Camp Nou for another five years.

The 29-year-old has been in brilliant form again this season but says he’s been left in the dark about a contract renewal, with his current deal set to expire in 2020.

Bartomeu is keen for both Alba and manager Ernesto Valverde to remain with Barcelona.

“I want both Valverde and Jordi Alba to continue with us and they both have a contract,” said

”I have already told Alba that I want him to continue with us for five more years.”

Alba has repeatedly said he wants to retire at Barcelona and is happy at the club, but even so the club need to make securing his future a top priority.
