Barcelona interested in Alaves defender Guillermo Maripan, says agent

The agent of Alaves defender Guillermo Maripan, Marcelo Contreras, reckons that Barcelona are keen on bringing the Chile international to the Camp Nou.

Barcelona have already moved to bring in Jeison Murillo on loan this winter, and there are reports they’ve all but signed Toulouse defender Jean Clair Todibo.

However, Maripan is also apparently a target, although any move will have to wait until the end of the season.

“We put his name to them a month ago,” he said. “They’re looking into the possibility, but it would be in the summer. They’ve been coming to watch him for a while.”

The 24-year-old moved to Alaves in the summer of 2017 and made 23 appearances for the club in his first season.

He’s made 11 La Liga appearances this season for Alaves, who are flying high in La Liga and sit fifth after 17 games.
