Carles Alena is plastered all over the front page of Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday with a report that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign the midfielder in January.

The midfielder has struggled for game time at Barcelona this season, featuring only in the opener against Athletic Bilbao, and was left out of the matchday squad again for Saturday’s win over Eibar.

Tottenham and Real Betis have both previously been linked with Alena, and it seems they may reignite that interest when the winter transfer window reopens.

MD focus on Tottenham’s interest and reckon Pochettino is a big fan of Alena. The Argentine thinks the Barca midfielder could be a good replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract next summer, and could well depart Spurs in January.

Eriksen’s departure would leave Spurs needing a replacement and could be enough to tempt Alena into making the move. He has previously outlined his determination to succeed at Barca but looks to have little chance of playing time this season if he stays.
