Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez has ruled out trying to sign Riqui Puig from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

There have been rumors that several clubs are interested in taking the 20-year-old on loan for the rest of the season but he won’t be heading to the Canary Islands.

Ramirez told a press conference on Thursday that his club are searching for a replacement for Jonathan Viera, who will return to China in January, but “have not asked” about Puig.

Real Zaragoza are the latest club to be linked with a move for Puig, while sporting director Patrick Kluivert has said this week a loan would be the best thing for the youngster.

It still remains to be seen if he will leave in January. He has appeared adamant he will not go on loan in the past but said at the start of the month he’d like to have more minutes and may have to make a decision on his future.
