Barcelona sporting director Patrick Kluivert has been talking about the possibility of Carles Alena leaving on loan and feels a move could make him a better player.

Alena is having a tough time at Camp Nou this season and has not featured since the opening days, when he was hooked at half-time of Barca’s 1-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao.

He’s frequently found himself left out of the matchday squad and speculation has surfaced that he could be off in the January transfer window.

Kluivert says a temporary move could be a good idea to allow the 21-year-old some playing time and aid his development.

“It would not be bad to let Carles Aleñá leave on loan so he gets minutes and experience and returns a better player. Players like Aleñá or Riqui Puig have to look for their future and do their best for themselves and for the club.”

Getafe are the latest club to be linked with a loan move for Alena. Cadena Cope have reported Alena is open to a move to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez but has also attracted interest from Celta Vigo, Real Betis and Granada.
