Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that the club have offered Jordi Alba a new five-year deal.

The full-back’s contract expires in summer 2020 and he’s been asked about his future plenty of times this season.

Alba’s made it pretty clear he wants to stay at the club, and Bartomeu reckons a deal has been offered.

“He has told us that he wants to continue,” he said.

“We have offered him a new contract over five years and I hope we will continue discussing the deal.”

Alba is enjoying a brilliant season for Barcelona and has already contributed more assists than ever before.

There seems little chance Alba can be tempted away from Barcelona, but let’s hope the club can get his long-term future secured quickly.
