Girona’s Cristhian Stuani confirmed this week that the rumors around him moving to Barcelona last month were indeed true.
The striker was reportedly in talks to join the club but instead signed a new deal with Girona.
“Yes, there was interest from Barcelona. I’m proud that a team as great as Barcelona thought about me. But I’m also happy about signing a new deal with Girona.
No, there’s no relegation clause. I’m convinced that we won’t be relegated. Our objective is to remain in the division.”

Stuani also confirmed there isn’t a relegation clause in his contract. That’s important because Girona are currently sitting 15th in the La Liga standings, only four points above the drop zone.
