This week Mundo is reporting that Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is “crazy” to join teammate Frenkie de Jong at Barcelona at the end of this season. According to the report, Barcelona are eager to sign two other needs before worrying about bolstering the back line further.

Signing a left-back and another attacker, probably that striker signing we’re all hoping will happen, are apparently priorities over signing de Ligt. Barcelona have been putting off signing a great striker for some time, so they’re probably going to have to pay over €50m at least to get someone decent to help Luis Suarez.

If they sign a left-back to backup Jordi Alba and then sign their striker for the future, there might not be enough to get the de Ligt deal done in the summer period. Leaving other top teams the chance to sign the 19-year-old.
