Goal is reporting that the Matthijs de Ligt to Barcelona deal is nearing completion. The deal has been reportedly done in theory for months, but the final bits and pieces hadn’t been ironed out. With Barcelona and Ajax now out of the Champions League, the deal can move towards completion.

It remains to be seen how much the deal will be for. His team-mate, Frenkie de Jong’s €75 million deal will likely dictate the cost of doing business with Ajax and their young stars.

The report says that De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola met with Barcelona officials last month to discuss the deal. Certainly after Ajax’s amazing run in the Champions League, that price has likely climbed given the performance that De Ligt put in as the captain.
