There’s no chance of first choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen going anywhere, but back-up Jasper Cillessen is expected to leave in search of regular game time.
He’s been linked with a move to Portuguese side Benfica, but the latest reports from Portugal suggest his price may be a problem.
Cillessen has a release clause of €60m in his current contract, and while Barcelona are said to be willing to accept €25m, Benfica are not able to go that high.
It still looks likely that the Dutch star will depart and Millionarios goalkeeper Wuilker Faríñez is being touted as a potential replacement.
According to AS, the goalkeeper’s father told VenezuelanTV that Barca have been in touch, and he could leave the Colombian side this summer.
“I can confirm that there has been contact with Barcelona and the player’s departure from the Colombian Liga Aguila is likely at the end of June.
“There has been interest in Wuilker from clubs in México, Argentina, England and previously in Portugal, but nothing resolved as yet. Millonarios have stated that they are open to looking at any offers.”
Of course Barcelona may also decide not to bring in a replacement for Cillessen, they could decide simply to promote Inaki Pena from Barcelona B instead.
