Former Barcelona player Alexander Hleb has been talking about the days of Ronaldinho and Deco and tried to explain why the club sold the pair.
The two players left the Camp Nou in 2008 after an underwhelming campaign that also saw their commitment to the cause questioned and rumors of dressing room unrest abound.
Hleb reckons the two players would turn up for training the worse for wear, and the club ditched them to protect Lionel Messi.
“Ronaldinho and Deco turned up drunk to train,” he said.
“You know why Barca sold them in 2008? Because they were afraid they would ruin Messi.”

Barcelona went on to achieve phenomenal success under Pep Guardiola, although Hleb barely featured in his four years at the club and didn’t manage a single goal.
