Neymar’s dad has tried to explain why his son failed to turn up to Paris Saint-Germain pre-season training on Monday.
The Brazilian was expected back but failed to show, leading the club to issue a statement saying they “deplore the situation” and plan to take action.
However, Neymar Sr. reckons that the club were told the 27-year-old would not be back for another week because of charity commitments.

"The reason is known, scheduled a year ago with the annual schedule of Instituto Projeto Neymar. We could not change, and the presentation will be on the 15th. It is that simple... no controversy, and PSG is informed."
Neymar is not the only player linked with a move to Barcelona to have failed to turn up to pre-season training. Antoine Griezmann was not part of the Atletico Madrid that returned to action on Sunday as speculation over moves for both players continues to rumble on.
