Barcelona and Arsenal have agreed a loan deal for Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Journalist Bilel Ghazi guarantees in his report that the deal will happen, which apparently confirms that the two clubs did talk about a Coutinho deal during the Joan Gamper Trophy. Coutinho is currently in the United States training with the Barça squad for Wednesday’s friendly against Napoli, but it wouldn’t be hard for him to get a flight to London and complete the deal if it’s really happened.

This is the first credible source on the Coutinho-Arsenal stuff, and if Bilel Ghazi is that confident about the deal then it must be close to happening. We’ll continue to give you updates as we learn more.

UPDATE: Coutinho to Arsenal is not happening. Read more about it here.
