After the Arsenal rumors came and went in a matter of hours, the other famous North London club is reportedly trying to bring Philippe Coutinho to the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur has launched a ‘last-minute’ bid to sign the Barcelona midfielder on loan, according to Sky Sports. The report says manager Mauricio Pochettino has called the player himself to inform him of his intentions, and the two have worked together before when Coutinho played for Pochettino for six months at Espanyol.
Now this one makes a lot more sense than Arsenal: Spurs actually need a midfielder with Christian Eriksen possibly on his way to Manchester United, the manager and the player have a good relationship, and Spurs actually have the money to afford a loan fee right now and to sign Coutinho permanently next summer if there’s an option to buy.
Just like the Arsenal rumor, this one may be nothing. But it may be something, so let’s keep following it.
