Barcelona confirmed on Monday that Rafinha has extended his contract at the club until 2021 and moved to Celta Vigo on loan for the rest of the season.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away all summer in a bid to gain more regular playing time and has now secured a transfer.

Here’s what Barcelona have had to say:

“FC Barcelona and Rafinha have agreed on the renewal of the player’s contract through to the end of the 2020/21 season.

“Additionally, Barça and Celta Vigo have come to an agreement whereas Rafinha will play at Celta on loan for the 2019/20 season. Celta thus take on Rafinha’s salary plus potential add-ons of up to €1.5m.

“FC Barcelona would like to publicly express its gratitude to Rafinha for his commitment and dedication, and wishes him the best of luck and continued success.”

Rafinha’s had a decent start to the season and featured in all of Barcelona’s three La Liga games, however his chances of game time look slim when Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele return from injury.

Good luck at Celta Rafinha!
