Lothar Matthäus has heaped praise on Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo amid speculation he could join Schalke on loan in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old is being tipped to depart in order to pick up some regular minutes and has been linked with a host of clubs including Schalke and AC Milan.
World Cup winner Matthaus reckons he’d be a great signing for the Bundesliga side and would be an asset to the German top flight.
“Todibo is the best centre back I’ve seen in a long time,” he said.
“He would be a good reinforcement for Schalke and an enrichment for the Bundesliga. At 20 he is incredibly calm, he always finds interesting solutions.”

The latest reports have suggested Schalke are favourites to land Todibo on a six-month loan, with the youngster then set to return to Barcelona in the summer.
