The Spanish press has almost gone into meltdown over the last few days, trying to cope with thousands of rumors about Ernesto Valverde’s future at Barcelona.

Monday proved to be the decisive day as the club finally announced Valverde’s time at the club was up and that Quique Setien is the new manager at the Camp Nou.

Here’s a look at how the press has covered the latest events.

Sport have a picture of the new Barcelona boss smiling and the headline: Quique Setien Signed. They reckon the club have moved because they want to change the dynamic of the team as they fight for titles.

Over at Mundo Deportivo there’s a picture of Ernesto Valverde waving goodbye as he drove away on Monday afternoon and the simple headline ‘Setien for Valverde.’ They also report that Xavi recommend Setien to Barca.

Marca have come up with ‘Impossible to do worse’ as their headlines. They say Barca made a real mess sacking Ernesto Valverde and talk about how Pochettino and Garcia Pimienta were also candidates.

AS call Setien the ‘Fire Extinguisher’ and talk about how Barca made the appointment after four chaotic days. They also talk about how Setien has the style of Cruyff and has signed on until 2022.

L’Esportiu have a slightly worried looking Setien as their main image. ‘In the End, Setien’ is how they describe his appointment after a busy day at the Camp Nou saw the club eventually announce the appointment of the 61-year-old.
