Luis Suarez has offered his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s Barcelona future and thinks the captain could still be convinced to remain at the Camp Nou.

The Argentina international made it clear he wanted to leave over the summer but could not find a way out and subsequently confirmed he’d spend the season at Barca.

It’s not clear yet what Messi will do when his contract expires next summer, but Suarez has said he could stay if there is change at the Camp Nou.

“Leo’s aware of what he means to Barcelona,” he said. “He’s given things to the club you could never imagine. He must carry on being the No.1, being the best and [being] happy.

“Maybe there’s the possibility that he plays for another club, but if he feels comfortable and happy and a new board come in, he will want to stay at the club. As a friend, I will be happy if things go well for him there, but also if he has to go to another club.”
