‘Possible’ that Memphis Depay could sign for Barcelona on Monday - Juninho

A dramatic deadline day on the way?

Nations League, The Netherlands v Italy

Memphis Depay could be a Barcelona player by the time the transfer window shuts tomorrow, according to Lyon sporting director Juninho.

The forward’s been linked with Barcelona ever since Ronald Koeman took charge, but it seemed as though the club’s interest had fizzled out.

President Jean-Michel Aulas had demanded Lyon compete their transfer business before this weekend, but Juninho reckons it’s still possible Depay could go.

“He has 12 months left on his contract, so… He has got an agreement with Barcelona, we don’t hide that. It is possible that Memphis signs for Barcelona tomorrow, but it is not certain. He is the most likely to go. If he stays he will help us.”

It seems that Depay may only arrive if Ousmane Dembele departs first. The Frenchman was an unused substitute again on Sunday, and Ronald Koeman spoke about his future after the game.

“What is certain in this world? There are things that can happen. He’s currently a Barça player… We’ll see.”

Strap yourselves in for an interesting deadline day.
