Barcelona have been hit by defensive injuries so far in 2020-21 that has left Ronald Koeman desperately short of options for his backline.
All four senior center-backs are currently sidelined with Gerard Pique not expected back for another few months at least.
The injuries have already fuelled speculation Barca will dip into the transfer market in January to bolster their backline but of course finances are a real problem.
Yet there are also rumors that Jean-Clair Todibo could be heading back to Barcelona in January after failing to make much of an impression on loan at Benfica.
The 20-year-old has been struggling with injury and is yet to feature for Benfica so far this season which could mean his loan is cut short, according to O Jogo.
Jorge Jesus’s side reportedly want to bring in Lucas Verissimo from Santos in the winter but would need to free up a spot in the defence.
Todibo could be deemed surplus to requirements with Jesus preferring to keep hold of experienced duo Jan Vertonghen and Nicolas Otamendi.
Barcelona sent Todibo out on loan to Schalke for the second half of last season and agreed another loan with Benfica in October that also includes a €20 million purchase option.
