Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that Santiago Ramos Mingo has joined Barcelona B on a free transfer after leaving Boca Juniors.

The 18-year-old has signed on for three seasons with the option for two more and has a release clause of €60m, although that rises to €100m if he joins the first team.

The defender joined Boca in 2015 and has featured for the first team in a couple of friendlies. He’s a left-footed centre-back who is known for having bags of character, battling qualities and being good aerially.

Ramos Mingo will add to Francisco Javier García Pimienta’s options at centre-back, and the arrival of another defender at Barca could mean Ronald Araujo may get more first-team opportunities.
